Applying shading

In my design I'd like to install roof shades two window panels thick to still allow for controlled natural light to be let in depending on the conditions of lighting at the time

Potential roof shading

ISSEY SUNSHADE SYSTEMS:

This product provides an effective sun shading solution to those who face a sun and heat problem from the skylight such as in the upper story of my current retail store.

The skylight on the home below presented an installation challenge as the glass could not have pressure placed upon it. I feel as though my store would consist of a similar issue. Ehy this product works id because Issey installers have found a method to install the sun shading system from above the window which I would have to apply to my roof shading system aswell.

The solution was to use Issey verasun glass roof awnings. Featuring a headbox at the top with permanent tracks on either side that follow the framework of the skylight, the awning retracts the fabric back and forth and places it under constant tension to keep it taut.

Installation process: Standing atop the 42m cherry picker and using the surrounding roof, the installers secured each Verasun to the window’s framework.

The systems are retractable and motorised for ease of operation, allowing for optimal solar protection at the touch of a button. When the system is extended, the home is significantly cooler and relieved of uncomfortable glare, while soft natural light is still able to filter through.

Light box

I took the light box challenge as a great opportunity to trial how the light would bounce in my actual design. In order to achieve this I wanted to replicate the structure of my design that allows the natural light in to see how the shading would play out when light hit at different angles. I was interested in seeing the refraction of the light when shone through the several layers of perspex.

Sun Patterns

So by the looks of things the sun is going to hit the window side of my retail store in the evening as it sets in the west. The roofing will get plenty of sun however the perimeter of the store s a whole is not in prime positioning for sun.
